There is a rule in fairytales: the farther the character is from the heroine's home, the more dangerous he is.
This story is about a soul lost in the forest, approaching the border between the worlds: Yav' (the world of the living) and Nav' (the world of the dead) in slavic mythology. False helper, a guide leading her to death. The heroine sees the signs, but does not fight: she follows on with morbid interest, goes deeper and deeper into the forest to meet her fate.
